How To Clear Browser Cache
Your browser saves copies of the pages you look so when you come back to the same page it doesn’t need to re-load the content. This can make your browsing a lot faster, but can also keep you from seeing the most up-to-date version of the page.
Choose your browser from the list
Internet Explorer 8
- From the Safety menu in the upper right, click Delete Browsing History
- Check Temporary Internet files, Cookies, and History, and then click Delete.
Internet Explorer 7.x
- Open Internet Explorer 7 then press the Alt key on your keyboard to show the pulldown menus on the top of your browser
- Click the Tools menu, then click Delete Browsing History.
- Next to the heading Temporary Internet Files, click the button that says Delete Files…, then click Yes, then Close.
To Automatically Clear the Cache every time IE closes
- Open Internet Explorer 7 then press the Alt key on your keyboard to show the pulldown menus on the top of your browser
- On the Tools menu, click Internet Options. The Internet Options box should open to the General tab.
- On the General tab, in the Browsing History section, click the setting button.
- In the Temporary Internet Files section click on Every time I start Internet Explorer
- Click OK, and then click OK again.
Internet Explorer 6.x
- Open your Internet Explorer 6 and go to the menu on the top of your screen
- On the Tools menu, click Internet Options. The Internet Options box should open to the General tab.
- On the General tab, in the Temporary Internet Files section, click the Delete Files button. This will delete all the files that are currently stored in your cache.
- Click OK, and then click OK again.
To Automatically Clear the Cache every time IE closes
- Get to IE’s Internet Options section by following the instructions above (if you’re already here just proceed)
- Click the Advanced tab.
- In the Settings box, scroll down to the section labeled Security
- Click the checkbox next to the Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed option
- Click OK to finish
Firefox 3 for Mac
- In the Tools pulldown menu, click on Clear Recent History
- in the Time Range To Clear pulldown, choose Everything
- click details
- make sure Cache is selected and click clear now
Firefox 2 for Mac
- In the Tools pulldown menu, click on Clear Private Data
Firefox 2 for PC
This browser is free and doesn’t have any of the security flaws that Internet Explorer has and is generally a great browser to use.
- Click Tools and select Options.
- Click the Privacy icon.
- Click Clear Now in the Private Data area.
- Click Ok.
- Exit and relaunch the browser.
Chrome for PC or Linux
Chrome is the new kid on the block, an awesome browser that is quickly picking up steam.
- Click the Tools tools menu item.
- Select Options.
- Click the Personal Stuff tab.
- Click Clear browsing data.
- Make sure the checkboxes for Empty Cache is checked
- In the “Clear data from this period” dropdown, select everything
- Click Clear Browsing Data.
Chrome for Mac

- Select Chrome > Clear Browsing Data on the menu bar.
- Make sure the checkboxes for Empty Cache is checked
- In the “Clear data from this period” dropdown, select everything
- Click Clear Browsing Data.
Opera for Mac
like Firefox this is another great freely downloadable browser for mac or PC, also works with cel phones.
- Go to the Opera menu and select Preferences
- Click the Advanced tab
- Click the History
- Next to Disk Cache, click the empty now button
- If you would like to disable caching totally, change the disk cache pulldown to off
Opera for PC

- Go to the Tools menu and select Preferences

Safari
Easiest way is just by pressing Apple + Alt + e
- Open Safari
- Go to top menus and click the Safari menu
- Select Empty Cache
- Click Empty on the ‘Are you sure’ message box
- Exit and relaunch the browser
AOL
Do not use the browser that comes with AOL, you can open another browser on your computer and use it instead as long as you’re logged in to AOL.
- Goto www.firefox.com and download and install the latest version of the Firefox browser.
- Follow the directions above if Firefox is cached
Old Browser Alert ~ IE for Mac
This browser has major problems rendering modern web pages and is no longer being upgraded by Microsoft. You aren’t seeing the web as it has evolved since this browser was created. Please download FireFox and use this browser instead.

Netscape
Netscape announced that they are not going to be supporting their browser or creating new versions of it as of March 2008. If you currently use Netscape you we recommend you download Firefox or download Opera and use them instead.
